Ellijay, GA

Ellijay is located in Gilmer County and lies where two rivers come together to form the Coosawattee River.

Famous as the Apple Capital of Georgia, Ellijay is home to eleven apple orchards with over twenty two varieties of apples, as well as homemade apple butter, fried pies, and old-fashioned cider. This beautiful town also annually hosts the Georgia Apple Festival in October, which means two exciting weekends of food, art, and crafts. As part of the celebration, the festival also inlcudes a parade and antique car show.

Ellijay is the historic county seat of Gilmer County. With approximately 1,619 living in town, Gilmer County as a whole comprises of 29,000 people. Approximately 8,000 families call Gilmer County their home.

This town is also an Appalachian Trail Community, where mountain vistas and cold, clear rivers abound. Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, Ellijay offers many outdoor activities, such as biking, hiking, and camping. Likewise, golf enthusiasts enjoy the White Path Golf Club.

Like other North Georgia towns, Ellijay has small-town charm and a friendly atmosphere.Hotels, restaurants, antique shops, and art galleries warmly welcome visitors.In fact, the town’s family-oriented events and recently-restored downtown square have made Ellijay a popular destination.
